Peace Is Possible? Now I've Seen It All!

Note the King of Liberals nominated and accepting the Nobel Prize, this morning. The economic infrastructure of America now has such socialist leaning that we have increased hostilities in the Middle-East and a general global perception of economic and military weakness. Imminent threats include nuclear capablities of hostile nations. Congress is considering a 40,000 increased troop presence in Afghanistan and Iran is experimenting with nuclear weapons.

In Barnstable, some consider peace possible among political terrorists that jeopardize the health, welfare and safety of innocent civilians. It appears to be a specious effort and we have yet to make any headway in the war on stupidity.

The Barnstable Town Hall

Dear Mr. Klimm,

Please review the correspondence and materials in regard to sitting Town Council President Janet Joakim. President Joakim demonstrates a substantial pattern of outrageous behavior that jeopardizes the health and safety of innocent children. As you are aware, I have complained extensively about notation and posting placed by Janet Joakim on sevenvillagesblog.com. sevenvillagesblog.com is the website constructed and maintained by an elected public official. Joakim provokes, antagonizes and instigates voters by placing inflammatory, scurrilous and libelous comments on her personal website. She often advertises her website at public meetings and in her column “From your Precinct Councilor. Please consider her comments after my removal from the town council podium at two recent meetings. Many of the comments posted were placed on the Internet by Joakim and compromises the stature of the entire town council. I have enclosed Joakim’s website on an enclosed disc for your review. Town Attorney Ruth Weil suggested that the mean -spirited and unkind nature of the vitriolic comments provoked Joakim into developing such a website. Joakim also claims to be skilled in the art of website construction and advertises her business by promoting her website from the council bench.

Town Attorney, Ruth Weil assumes that the onus remains on a few disgruntled constituents that disapprove of her current policies. President Janet Joakim’s unbecoming conduct reflects poorly on the quality of all government officials representing the Town of Barnstable. Frustrated voters and angry constituents are free to attack her policies. They are, and will always be protected by shield laws. This is at times an unfortunate expectation of government leaders and public officials. Candidates voted into office are expected to be able to cope with criticism and angry factions. It is clearly a responsibility of elected officials. Please consider Joakim’s accusation and placement of comments regarding my psychological condition placed upon her website. I was notified by a member of “Citizens for Open Government” that Joakim has recently accused me of leaving several questionable comments on her website. It is an expectation of this grassroots advocacy and pressure group to refrain from commenting on sevenvillagesblog.com.

I am in possession of counseling and therapy records generated by the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children regarding a child witness to violence. I have complained about the compromise to children’s safety and welfare in the past. My expectation was that these issues would be resolved expediently and not exacerbated by the sitting Town Council President. Please review the complaint formulated by the Barnstable Police Department in regard to John Joakim. President Joakim’s husband assaulted and threatened Ms. Taryn Thoman in the presence of her young child. The police report has been circulated extensively in political circles and among attorneys with interests in public safety here in Barnstable. The police report now sits on a number of websites.

Barnstable Town Council President Janet Swain Joakim has been accused of political deceit. She continues to prevaricate and deny reckless and outrageous behavior. She lies unabashedly despite maintaining an Internet site designed to humiliate, degrade, and harass her adversaries. President Janet Joakim justifies her actions by suggesting voters are provoking her and have no place disagreeing with her policies and agenda. She insisted on my removal from the podium subsequent to my reference to her as “a hypocrite”. She also did not seem to make the connection between her promotion of a “No Place for Hate” Community effort and deliberate antagonistic comments being placed by her on her website. Clearly, she was asked to “Tear down this website!” Joakim continues to spew scurrilous and malicious comments and the notation have been saved in hardcopy and on software mechanisms for review by federal authorities. President Joakim’s deliberate, malicious; attacks compromising a child under the age of six are beyond reproach. The notation displayed on her website clearly indicates that she conspired to harass and target Taryn Thoman, her husband, and in particular, her small child. Janet claims to have a comprehensive agenda and policy platform on children’s rights.

Formulating complaints to you over seven years is a colossal waste of time. The energy that it requires to make you aware of grievous and outrageous offensive behavior is draining and exhausting. The ultimate goal is to place you on notice that the actions of officials constitute depraved indifference. The standard for common decency in this community is abysmal. I continue to forward materials to federal authorities and law enforcement officials to effect change.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Mary Clements RN., BSN., MA
