Kerry Congratulates Barnstable on "All America City" Award (Revisited, July 30, 2009)
Washington, DC – Senator John Kerry today congratulated the town of Barnstable on receiving an All-America City Award. Town Manager John Klimm and Town Council President Janet Joakim, along with 24 Barnstable residents were in Washington today to accept the award. Kerry attended the ceremony to personally congratulate Barnstable’s civic leaders.
“Today we take pride that Barnstable has at last been recognized as a wonderful place to live, work and raise a family – truly one of America’s great towns. Barnstable isn’t just a local success story, it’s a model of what good planning, economic stimulus, an infusion of the arts, and smart leadership can achieve” said Senator Kerry. “This award belongs to every single person in Barnstable who helped the town make so much progress these last years, and I am happy to join in the celebration.”
The award is given to communities that overcome challenges with creative solutions that involve many different forms of civic engagement, and communities energized by citizens who are actively committed to ensuring that their community is a safe and nurturing place to live.
The community was chosen because of its work on economic stimulus plan, such as the zoning changes and the creation of the growth incentive zone in Hyannis, and the addition of museums and public arts programs.; on its affordable housing plan that includes the accessory affordable housing program; and because of its creation of a youth commission that gives input on issues and projects that involve young people.
Barnstable was just one of just ten communities nationwide to receive the award.
Presented here is a commendation from our left wing, ultra-liberal, unscrupulous, Senator John Kerry. Kerry remains active with number of local housing advocates and human service providers. Kerry has yet to indicate an interest in public safety for vulnerable residents in downtown Hyannis. Businesses have been jeopardized, economic growth in the area has been stunted, the interests of children have been compromised. There has been no justice to date for the victims of violent crime on Cape Cod.
No award to the Democratic "hotbed" of liberalism would be complete without weighing in on the sentiments of sex offenders and narcotics addicts. Two of my favorite offenders Perry Bell, and Marvin Grogan, have been indirectly instrumental in improving the standard for services. Items indicating the severe conditions were forwarded to responsible parties over eight years. There were some temporary improvements, but no long term solution. Expansion and proliferation of negligent services was curbed, at a high premium, and at the expense of the innocent.
Clearly, both John Kerry and Ted Kennedy have sufficient contact and influence with Rick Presbrey of Housing Assistance Corporation. Kerry and Presbrey are featured at an "affordable housing summit" with Tom Lynch of the Barnstable Housing Authority. The Dana's Field Project was dropped after evidence of violent crime was delivered to the attorneys representing the The Sandwich Family Association. The level of marked impropriety was discovered and handled politically. Sandwich Family Association expressed their gratitude. There was no effort to hold the organizations and agencies responsible for their actions. Rick Presbrey, Livia Davis, and Tom Brigham of HAC lobbied the Office of Senator Ted Kennedy for this intiative.
