Unfortunately, "The Kennedy Mystique" has inadvertently attracted a new breed of unsavory politician. The deliberate misinterpretation of the spirit of the Democratic Party shall now be referred to as "The Camelot Factor". The propensity to misconstrue the intent of special interests for one's personal gain is, of course, The Camelot Syndrome. It has long been customary for the wealthy, powerful, and affluent to maintain vacation homes in coastal communities. Republicans sailing around Walker's Point really don't have much to say about the Democrats sunbathing on the shores of the Cape. Vacationing is truly a bipartisan effort. Vacation homes are just that, vacation homes. Places where the wealthy-weary can count on for rest and relaxation. Hyannis is unique and special in that regard. The historic flavor of the region attracts not only tourists, but a good number of political imposters.
The multitudes of political wannabes and their self-indulgent propensity to distort the spirit of the Democratic Party is the essence of the "Camelot Syndrome". The bold misinterpretation of special interests for the purpose of self-promotion suggests that the Democratic icons either won't mind or won't care embodies the Camelot Factor. I am certainly confounded. One would assume there is an obligation to serve in municipal politics with a spirit of "government by the people, for the people." The privilege of serving, particularly in the historic town of Barnstable is a sentiment that should be upheld and supported. Politicos cannot afford to take liberties with the locale. It is truly not politic to promote one's professional and personal career at the expense of our smallest constituents. There is no latitude for abuse of power in Barnstable. The Camelot Factor, the erroneous notion that one can do as one pleases because nobody wants another scandal in the Kennedy's backyard is a figment in the political imaginations of frauds.
Reality dictates that local politicians shall be held to a higher standard, not the abysmally low one that flouts the essence of democratic ideals. The advancement of children's rights and interests knows no political party. Children are not property. They are entrusted to their parents for love and caring. It is a daunting responsibility for all members of society to guard and protect our progeny.
